Celtics set record low out west, fall to the Mavs in close one 94-89
The Celtics went on a 12-0 run to cut the Mavs lead to 64-61 with 1:30 to go in the third. Dallas was about to roll past the C's, but they survived a 15 point lead on the road to get back in the game heading into the 4th quarter. The Celtics were unable to pull off the comeback, despite pulling with 2 points at the 2:45 mark off a Bayless jumper. On the next play, Monta Ellis hit a corner three to give Dallas, a 85-80 lead. Bayless would hit a corner three of his own, to pull the Celtics within 2 points again.
But, like he's done so many times in his career. Nowitzki hit a clutch 3 to give the Mavs a 5 point lead. Bradley would steal the ball with under 30 seconds to go in the game, and he would pull the Celtics within a point. It wasn't enough.
Bayless (19 points-11 in the 4th) and the Celtics comeback fell short in Dallas, they lost 94-89.Kelly Olynyk added 16 points and nine rebounds off the bench (finishing a team-best plus-15 in plus/minus), but the Celtics couldn't pull off the comeback. The 15-point deficit was too much to overcome. Dirk Nowitzki scored a team-high 19 points, while Monta Ellis added 17 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.
The Celtics (22-46) have lost five straight and remain tied with Utah for the fourth-worst record in basketball. The Celtics finish the season 0-15 on the road against the Western Conference, the worst mark in team history.
Boston will take Tuesday off after a back-to-back before hosting the defending champion Miami Heat on Wednesday at TD Garden. I predict Jeff Green will have a big game. After his 2-of-12 performance for 5 points.
