David West is a constant reminder of what could have been with the Celtics

There is nothing like running into a brick wall. Believing the pain resulting from it will take away a pain that has stuck with you longer than it should have. David West is that moment in which I wish I could speed my car up, so I smash into a brick wall causing memory loss.

The Celtics were a player away in the 2011-12 season. Although Jeff Green would have still been gone because of heart surgery. The Celtics were deep with players like Pietrus, Marquis, and Sasha. They filled in for Green, and I think they could have again. The missing player that I'm referring to is David West. He nearly signed with Boston during the 2011-12 season. But he decided to back out of that deal, and that left the door open for another breakdown.

I’m trying so hard. To forget the moments that happened a couple of years ago. But it feels like I’m losing my mind to the memories of that time. Happy days were supposed to follow. I believed that West would have been enough to give the Celtics a series win over Miami in 2012. Then likely a Finals victory over the Thunder. I can dream right, and that's what the majority of it is.

West was that one player that could have put the Pacers over the hump. He probably picked the right team, as they seem poised for a title run. Ainge nearly pulled off a West trade that would have brought in banner 18. It's one of the top 5 what ifs for a fan. David West always leaves us second guessing, and him not coming to Boston sticks with me. Maybe you guys as well.
