Surprise, yes Green has been pretty mediocre lately. And the surprise meter is stuck at zero. It's Jeff Green were talking about, and nothing is surprising when he has four forgettable games in a row. Green has averaged 10 points a game in the past 4 games. Not the greatest obviously. But like I said, not surprising at all. So, has Jeff's poor performance as of late been due to a sore neck?
Celtics coach Brad Stevens took Green out with 3:49 to play in the third quarter and did not bring him back in.
"He really looked uncomfortable out there," said Stevens who revealed Green's stiff neck injury after the loss. "Otherwise I would have gone back with him but it made us even smaller."
Chris Johnson received the lion's share of Green's minutes, finishing with 13 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field.
Stevens said Green could "hardly move" his neck on Tuesday.
"Today he didn't look much better," Stevens added. "Hopefully by the time we play again on Friday [against Toronto] he feels better."
Jeff is due for a 25 plus point game soon. I don't know what I want from Green anymore. Maybe for Ainge to deal him this summer. I don't usually talk like that, but come on. If Ainge can deal him in a bigger deal, you know you want to see that happen. I guess I still see him being a good 4th option on a championship team. Will see if he even lasts in Boston after Ainge builds this team into a contender.
