Humphries won't travel because of knee injury

The Celtics have 6 more games on tap, but Kris Humphries may have played his last. Not to mention it could have been his last as a Celtic with his pending free agency this summer.

This is just what the Boston Celtics need - another player goes down with an injury.

Boston big man Kris Humphries will not travel with the team for Saturday night's game at Detroit because of patella tendinitis in his right knee.

This injury might the reason Humphries' production has tailed off lately, with the most noticeable dip being his rebounding.

In Boston's last five games, he has averaged 8.6 points and 3.8 rebounds. The five games prior to that, he averaged 8.8 points and eight rebounds per game.

His injury comes at a position where the Celtics are already short-handed.

Humphries has seemed a bit off in the past few games, and maybe the knee has caused some issues. I hope this wasn't the last of Hump this season and next season.

  1. He can be an important role player for us, but he needs to be willing to sign a team-friendly contract. He can be a key bench guy for a championship team.
