Rajon Rondo says the Celtics "have everything to play for, we have pride"

It was an unacceptable loss by the Celtics, especially at home, with Rondo posting his 29th career triple-double. The 111-102 loss to the 76ers is a low of all lows. Especially following Boston's 118-92 beat down by the Wizards Wednesday. The 76ers recently ended a 26 game losing streak. They tied Cleveland for the worst losing streak in NBA history.

Rondo said it best after the loss.

"We have everything to play for. We have pride. We have pride as a team. Right now we’re not displaying that at all."

The Celtics were favored to win this game by double digits, and it nearly reversed, with the C's losing by 9 points. Rajon Rondo had a good game. We know the stat line. Rondo had 11 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds, but what about the 4th quarter? Rondo had 6 of his 16 assists in the 4th quarter. An alarming number for me is that Rondo had zero shot attempts in the 4th quarter, with 8:55 minutes played.

Not ideal for your captain, but the Celtics shot 59% in the 4th, and Boston scored 31 points. The issue was that Boston couldn't stop Philly. The C's gave up 35 points in the 4th quarter. So, I can let go of Rondo not scoring, the defense failed Boston, and that's pride right there. Playing defense is apart of having pride in NBA basketball. The Celtics didn't show it when it mattered most.

"They were playing harder then us. A lot of energy, their rotations were on point and they were hungry."

Rondo nailed it again. Rondo also talked about the final games, and the Celtics digging deep.

"We are all professionals. We have to do a way better job than what we are doing as far as performing for the name across our jerseys, the front and the back. I try to be there as much as possible to root my guys on from the bench. We have to look deep, everyone has to look in the mirror individually and try to pull out whatever they can give for these last six games."

The Celtics (23-53) have now lost seven straight and 12 of their last 13 overall. Their one win away from catching the 24 wins from the 2006-07 season. I hope we at least get two more wins this season.

  1. 11 points isn't going to get it, though. Rondo needs to average at least 15ppg next year, and especially in crunch tme.

  2. Zero shot attempts in the 4th Rondo, says it all. Hate to say anything bad after his first triple-double, but they lost, and he took zero shots in the 4th.

  3. I don't think he gets it yet that this team needs his scoring
