Rondo earns a flop warning from the NBA

Oh I remember that play with Rondo. I was thinking at the time "what the hell was that"! Let's put it this way. I've seen much worse through the years. Rondo didn't even take the contact. You could argue a few things with his flop. I thought he was just preparing for the worst, but overall it was a bad flop by Rondo.

ESPN Boston

Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo received a flop warning from the NBA on Thursday, the league announced.

Rondo appeared to fall without contact while trying to initiate a charge against Jeff Teague late in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Kyle Korver hit a go-ahead 3-pointer on the play.

  1. It took him a while to get up. That was the weird thing. I was nauseated by the twitter reaction. Rondo made a lot of great plays in that game, but the only one twitter cared about was the 'flop'. Did he flop? Couldn't tell from our angle. I don't know why it took him so long to get back up. It was actually a good defensive play, aside from the way Rondo stayed on the floor, in that Rondo tried to position himself to take a charge and at least stop Teague's move towards the basket. It worked in that regard. But Rondo stayed on the floor for some reason.

  2. I don't think it was a flop. He was expecting contact, and perhaps got a bit tripped up.
