Celtics and Lakers will battle for Kevin Love this summer

Kevin Love will sign off on a trade that he likes. Is Boston a place that he wants? The Celtics won't bite if he doesn't agree to an extension. What it could come down to is this. The Lakers have nothing to offer, except their lottery pick this year. The Celtics have young guys, and future picks, along with this years lottery pick. I think when it comes to having a good chance at Love, the Celtics must get the better pick over the Lakers. If the Lakers get it, they could have the edge, even if Boston has more to offer.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports

...the Wolves are under pressure to start considering trade scenarios for Love, who's anxious to exercise his early termination option (ETO) in the summer of 2015 and leave as a free agent, league sources said.

"For the first time, [team president Flip Saunders] sounds like looking at deals for [Kevin Love] is an option," one rival executive told Yahoo Sports.

The Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns are among many teams determined to make hard runs at trades for Love, league sources said. Boston and Los Angeles plan to make high-lottery picks in the 2014 NBA draft available in offers for Love, sources said.

  1. Agree, need the best pick over the Fakers. That will leave us in a prime spot for Love.

  2. So, the narrative around the interwebs seems to be that Ainge is going to trade Rondo, am I right? So...what in God's name does Love want anything to do with the C's without another legit superstar on the roster? There is 0 reason for him to want to be in Boston if that's the case. Yes, Rondo is there now, but I'm sure Kevin Love knows just as much if not more than what we do about the rumors. Obviously I don't know Kevin Love, and I certainly don't presume to know what he's thinking. But common sense is common sense. Rondo's future is up in the air, and that would be a total red flag if I'm Kevin Love. The T'wolves have been promising him more help and change for a month of Sundays. And I highly doubt Love is looking for more of the same in any move he makes. Until Rondo's future is cemented or he's been officially traded for another legit star, I wouldn't touch Boston with a 10 foot pole. It just wouldn't make sense for him from a career standpoint.

This is NeCsFan by the way lol I couldn't figure out how to login to the new site LOL because I'm a genius like that. HA!

  3. You are right, NeC. If the Cs really are going after Love, they must intend to keep Rondo, surely. So this really does counter the Rondo Pack Your Bags narrative. I am not all that hot for Love, though. I like Sully. But then again, I see Sully as a center. Love can hit those threes that Rondo loves to set up. Still, the guy I think a lot about is Bosh. Not that Bosh is remotely available. I do like the way Love cleans up the glass though. We need someone to do that. I don't know, I want Sully at center and a pf with some rim-protecting ability.

  4. Love and Sully could be a tandem for years. Not sure if the Wolves want him. I would part with Kelly before Sully any day. I would hate to see one of them go. But Love is, if not the best power forward in the game. He's only 25, with about a decade of dominance ahead. Rondo, Love, and another star will run the East for years to come.

  6. This feels like Love is coming, and I hope Danny pulls the trigger on this. Amazing how quickly this story has moved. The lottery is a day away.

  7. YOu are right, greg, this has moved fast. And it's nice to see the Rondo trade winds simmer down, although I'm sure that's breaking some smartbuddies' hearts over at CB. I like the idea of Sully, Love and Rondo, and with Green and Bradley, maybe that's a great team. But it still lacks rim protection. If that's our team, then Rondo really really has to learn to stay in front of his man more on D, sliding his feet properly, etc..

  8. Vitor will be our guy to protect the rim, Sully is out.
