Flip Saunders believes Love will play for Minnesota next season

Saunders is surely not giving his hand, but you know when the real offers start coming in. Saunders will look into the mirror, and then make that tough choice to deal Love. Love seems like a player that is ready to bolt, before he becomes a free agent in 2015. The Wolves won't risk losing Love for nothing, most star players force their teams hand. The Lakers were the last victim when Howard was a year rental, and he left for Houston, and the Lakers got crap for him.

“The last I knew Kevin was under contract with us, and I expect him to be playing for us next year,” Saunders said Sunday after a workout of draft prospects, via the Associated Press. “I don’t really dictate where guys go on vacation or what they do. They can go wherever they want to go.”

“I know there’s a feeding frenzy out there from a lot of teams,” Saunders said. “Unfortunately, they have no say. I plan on Kevin being here.”

It’s primarily Saunders’ decision whether Love stays or goes before he can opt out of his contract and leave on his own next summer, so his words carry plenty of weight — although ownership will certainly have a say in trading the face of the franchise, as well.

  1. I'm not sure what it means in terms of final outcome, but as a symbolic act, Love's Boston visit was very, very dramatic. Love was sending a very strong message. But to whom? And signifying what?
