Rajon Rondo thinks it possible to win a championship with Melo

Rajon Rondo continues his public tour this summer. It feels like Rondo it a politician going around kissing babies, but I like it. He's a player that the media loves to call rude and mean, so it's a chance for more them to see him shine in the public eye. Rondo was asked a bunch of question, but the Melo questions caught my eye.

Quotes from ESPN

Is Carmelo Anthony the missing piece for Chicago?

"I think 'Melo could be the missing piece, but if he does move like that we'll have to figure something out in Boston."

Later when Hill was talking about Chicago or Houston as potential destinations for Carmelo, Rondo interrupted her and said:

"Or Boston. You never know. You never know what Danny [Ainge] is capable of doing. I can't tell you too much, but we want to be contenders as well next year. We don't plan on being down too long. I think Danny has a lot of wiggle room with what he's done in the past couple years with the draft, so I'm looking forward to what's going to happen. Hopefully he [Carmelo] doesn't go to Chicago."

How would Carmelo fit in Boston?

"Who knows, the sky is the limit. I play to try to win a championship every year, and with 'Melo I think it's very possible."

If that's who Rondo wants then go for it Ainge. It's not an easy move, and it's honestly going to take a lot of luck to get Melo here. Melo is maybe the best scorer in the game, but can the Celtics get him to play defense? He's a good rebounding small forward, but can we get some grit and guts out of him?

  1. I still can't buy into Melo. Is he the one to lead us to banner 18? I don't know, and I doubt he leaves New York.
