Rondo: Demand a Trade to Sacramento

As I mentioned before - and as mentioned on twitter by some clever rabbit -- Rondo should go into the HOF for surviving more trade rumors than any other player in history.  The thing is, the guy only has 9 lives.  Or so.  I'm sick and tired of Danny shopping Rondo, and I'm sure Rondo is sick of it too.   It's time for this sick and demented charade to end.  Do the right thing Danny.  Trade Rondo to the team of his choice.

Rondo can't have missed the fact that the Cs went crazy over point guards in this draft, and drafted the most NBA-ready one.  What does this mean?  It means exactly what the Celtics brass are claiming it doesn't mean.

I actually think that Rondo, Smart and Bradley could be an incredibly dynamic backcourt, especially on defense, but I've seen no words from the Celtics' brass that give me any confidence that they have such a vision, or even that they are capable of having any vision at all.  Brad Stevens wants to be a Pop star, in that he wants to be like Pop.   Danny wants to keep on punishing Larry Bird for being so much better a player by treating other superstars like crap.   Wyc wants to be able to afford a better toupe.  None of these guys have said anything that suggests that they are truly excited to see Rondo, Smart and Bradley go after other teams like a wrecking crew.  In fact, the Celtics just delivered a backhand to the face of Avery Bradley by offering him what I see as an insultingly low qualifying offer.  Sure they can match any other offer Bradley receives, but really, they are virtually begging some other team to take him, and if they do manage to keep him, it will be at a high cost, both in terms of dollars and hurt feelings.  It's sick, really, if you ask me.

I think Rondo should demand a trade to Sacramento, and he should make it clear that he will refuse to report to training camp if the Cs don't trade him.  Sacramento seems to want Rondo, and they have a strong young group of players, especially if they add Josh Smith.  Shaq is there, as I understand it, and he gets the need to pair Rondo with a strong five, even if Danny doesn't get it.  How many years has Rondo has to go without a decent five on offense, and since the departure of Perk, with a decent five on either end?  This has been sheer craziness.  I don't know what game Danny is playing, but it's nothing to do with having any vision, I think.  I used to think that Sully could be a  great five, but since I've read that he has ballooned this summer without doing any work to increase his strength, I guess that seems more like a joke than a real idea to me now.  I guess maybe he really is just a smarter version of Big Baby.  Big Sull.  Oh well.

Danny can continue playing his mindgames.  Brad can go on recreating his Butler dynasty.  Wyc can polish his toupe.  It's time for Rondo to forge his own way, and maybe it's time for the Sacramento Kings to become the Rondo Wrecking Crew...

  1. I don't doubt that capology had something to do with the lowball offer to Bradley. It's amazing to think that even with a team crammed full of marginal and young players, we have barely any cap space! Can't blame it all on Wallace...

    1. I just think drafting smart was insurance for bradley we don't wanna overpay him and he tends to get injuried a lot I think were gonna sign and trade bradley or let him walk unless the market isn't good for him

  2. Seriously, though, you don't draft at number six for insurance, especially after tanking!

  3. It's time for a change, Greg. Sacramento will be a good place for Rondo, I think.

  5. I say yes please too. Would so love to see that. Rondo is done as a Celtic. He tried very hard to work with a system that never embraced him. Time for a change. If the Kings get Smoove, things are going to become rather amazng...

  6. Let rondo retire in sac. He got his ring , he might have a chance of getting another one if we get our defense and three point percentage up. Isaiah is young he says he wants to be in Sacramento but i really dont think he wants to be on a team that gets less than 30 wins a season. Im a kings fan and i approve this deal.

  7. Me too anon. I wanted to see Rondo retire as a Celtics legend, but it's time for a change. Sac could be really brilliant with Rondo. What are the chances of getting JSmoove too?
